We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable EU law.

1. Who We Are

Sylvaris Platform (sylvaris.io) is an independent tech media publication based in Barcelona, Spain. We publish Canopy, a daily AI-summarised tech news feed, and Folium, a section of independent software and tool reviews. Sylvaris is operated by one person. 2. What Data We Collect and Why

Email address — When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We use it solely to send you Sylvaris updates and important service notifications. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.

Analytics data — We use analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site. This may include pages visited, time on site, referral source, browser type, device type, and approximate location (country/city level). This data is aggregated and not linked to your identity. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the site (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

Cookies — We use cookies as described in Section 5 below.

3. AI-Processed Content

Canopy summaries are generated using an AI pipeline that processes publicly available news articles from third-party sources. This process does not involve any personal data about our visitors or subscribers.

Some Folium reviews contain affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. We do not collect personal data through affiliate links ourselves; however, the affiliate networks we partner with may set their own cookies. Affiliate relationships are clearly disclosed within each relevant review.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Email subscribers: We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. After unsubscribing, your data is removed within 30 days.
  • Analytics data: Retained for up to 26 months, then automatically deleted or anonymised.

6. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited data with trusted service providers who help us run the site:

  • Ghost (The Ghost Foundation) — our CMS and newsletter infrastructure provider.
  • Analytics provider — used to measure site traffic and usage patterns.
  • Affiliate networks — only in the context of Folium review links, as described above.

Where any provider operates outside the EU/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

7. Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the site to function correctly (e.g. maintaining your subscriber session). These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors use the site. Set only with your consent where required by law.
  • Affiliate cookies: May be set by third-party affiliate networks when you click a Folium review link.
